Abridge is seeking an Associate General Counsel, Product with a focus on Data Products, Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence. This role will serve as the primary legal advisor for teams developing Abridge's AI and machine learning models, products, and technologies. You will be instrumental in guiding product teams on cutting-edge AI developments, from ambient clinical documentation to emerging agentic and multimodal healthcare experiences. This is a unique opportunity to shape the legal landscape at the intersection of AI and healthcare for a category-defining company.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the go-to counsel for teams building core AI models and products, advising on legal issues related to model development, agentic workflows, multimodal outputs, and clinical use.
  • Identify and mitigate AI-specific legal risks, including model behavior, output accuracy, IP, data provenance, training rights, and liability for AI-generated content.
  • Develop and scale legal processes, frameworks, and contract language suitable for rapid AI development.
  • Serve as an internal expert on AI legal and policy matters, shaping company positions on AI regulation and representing them externally.
  • Support privacy impact assessments, model risk assessments, and data governance frameworks for AI.
  • Partner with legal, product, and compliance stakeholders on AI principles like transparency, accountability, and human oversight.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of legal experience, with at least 6 years counseling on AI, machine learning, or emerging technology products.
  • Prior in-house experience is required.
  • Demonstrated creativity in navigating novel legal matters and building new processes for fast-paced companies.
  • Working knowledge of AI-specific legal issues, including IP, copyright, training data rights, model liability, and responsible AI.
  • Ability to translate complex regulatory and technical AI concepts into clear guidance for non-legal audiences.
  • Comfort operating with ambiguity, tight timelines, and a high volume of novel legal questions.
  • Strong sense of ownership, intellectual curiosity, and sound judgment.
